Polaris Fronteer 4S fuel pump poor presure

My fuel pump is going bad and sometimes the sled runs poorly and then when the fuel pressure is adequate it will run fine. A buds did the same thing and we took the pump from a parts Fronteer he has and it runs perfectly now. Problem: NO more fuel pumps available. Could I take a in line electric fuel pump and mount it in a safe location between the tank and the filter? The stock pump is is the tank, would I have to plum around the bad pump or run them both. The current setup is the pump starts builds pressure then shuts off till you start the eng. I have almost 10,000 miles on my sled and want 10k more.

are you sure it's the pump? I have 2 and my buddy has 1 (04 Frontier classics), one of these sleds, pump went out completely but my friends was nothing more than the hose on the pump in the tank was not pushed up tightly on the pick-up tube.

I will check that when I put it away for the summer. Thanks How many miles do your sleds have and what did you do for the sled that lost the fuel pump?

The rubber used on many of these won't take the fuels and additives commonly put in the fuels and others we use to keep the gasoline from deteriorating.

Check all the fuel lines exposed to the fuel INSIDE the tank...if they are cracked replace them. If they were poorly connected use stainless hose clamps rather than snug fit or other cheapo clamping mechanisms.

Also if you shop around you can get a replacement generic fuel pump for cheap off ebay submersible pumps are all about the same tho I have heard that some won't stand the test of time....I did one for my cat and the pump inself was like 25 bucks. I won't bother to tell you what cat wanted for the pump...crazy money. Just have to replace the attachments and hoses. If it doesn't get the proper pressure the machine won't run right.

Good luck!
