I have a 2010 800 dragon switchback with a midheight windshield 12.5. I have the polaris handguards with the optional mirrors . I would like to go to the 16.5 windshield, but it says it can't be installed with handguards. any feedback would be appreciated. Need more protection but dont want to lose handguards.

sure you can......but the bars will hit when locked either direction. I've got the 16.5 on my 08 D7. I've got the stock handgaurds with the round mirrors on them that fold in. my thought was if they only hit when full lock,I'm good. If my bars are full lock right or left at trail speed,I've got bigger issues to deal with then wondering if they are hitting the windshield.............LOL

I have the dragon switchback and it has a 5.25 riser and trailstar handguards with the mirrors on the ends too. You think the riser will make difference. That 12 inch looks good but doesnt do much.

I'm pretty sure my D7 has the 5.25 riser stock as well, and I've had this set up for 2 seasons without ANY issues. just remember to fold them in and fold guards down if you use a cover........I haul with a enclosed rig but still cover my junk.....LOL
those little round mirrors are'nt worth a hoot except at night in my opinion........really hard to see anything during the day. but we really dont have any other options for decent looking mirrors on the IQ chassis.....short of drilling holes thru the hood for the touring set up.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to order the 16.5 windshield tomorrow. It looks like we need to talk to the snow gods. Forecast shows a warm up and some rain for upcoming week and weekend. Ride safe !

The mid height works good on the IQ or dragons, you need the hand guards just perfect so they don't hit when turning, the mirrors are a joke. I tried them they are hard to look at when riding a rough trail, or you be in a tree.

The only way I would have mirrors if they were on the sled not the handlebars.

Most people don't use them or look through them anyway.

The tall windshield the hand guards will work, but if you half to turn sharp you might tare them off your windshield, not enough clearance, they will hit.
