Polaris motor swap Questions

Hello, just wondering if anybody out there might have any input on the ability to put a early 90's polaris fuji 500 twin motor into and early 2000's polaris 500 which has i believe the liberty 500 twin motor? I have a fantastic running fuji 500 motor but the sled is old and beaten, and I can pick up a great shape 2002 500 with a blown motor. I know I would have to swap several things but they are both liquid cooled and both have oil injection, so aside from some wiring I think it should work? I am wondering if I could even use the newer exhaust pipe and can?

Any thoughts???

Admire your drive, but as noted, you’d be better off rebuilding the 02 for the 02. These kind of swaps are not plug and play in almost all cases.

Not saying it could not be done, Ive been wrenching on sleds for 27 yrs, I wouldn't want to do it, like stated a lot a things to consider, with clutch alignment, will the exhaust fit, air box fit, and the list goes on. Yuck , what happened to the other motor?

I would sooner look into another chassis that had the fuji motor in it... love that motor our 99 xc500 has 14.2k and has never been taken apart.

Polaris Edge chassis also came with the 500 Fuji option I would look for that but unlikely you'll find a blown one? too many variables swapping out the Liberty even if you bought used parts.

I owned a2006 edge chassis indy 500 with the Fuji motor. Factory made all the parts for it obviously, if you look hard enough, it's doable. But the xc500 liberty engine is nearly twice the powerplant.

I own a 03 Indy. The original engine was a Fuji 500( the crankshaft broke ). I didn't think twice about switching the motor to a Liberty 600. I still have the sled. I have put on about 3000 trouble free miles since the swap. You can rebuild the slow motor or drop in more horsepower, your choice.
