Polaris RZR questions:

We were driving around this past weekend and past a Dealer that had a few RZR's out front. Kids thought they were cool and wanted to stop and check them out. I knew my 2 boys would think they were cool but my wife was also really intrigued by them as well.

She sat in it, took it around the parking lot etc. Liked the idea that we could ride in one as a family and it would be safer than the ATV's with the roll bar and seat belts.

I am now looking into selling off 2 ATV's and my 1980 Jeep CJ7 to try and afford one or maybe 2.

So I am asking for the good and bad of these machines. The 4 seater is too wide for the ATV trails and pretty pricey. I think I would rather find 2 used RZR standards for the 4 of us so we can attempt the ORV trails as well as the back roads and 2 tracks.

Curious if anyone has had any problems with them or have had any experience driving them on the ORV trails.

I was in the yoop last week, Twin Lakes area, and we had a RZR for the week to try out. We thought it was an absolute riot. There was only one or two spots that I didn't try to get through with it, and that was only because It wasn't mine.

My wife spent the most time driving it, and she loved it. The cool part about it is being to talk to, and laugh your azz off, with someone right next to you.

We didn't have any issues with the one we had, we put 150 miles on it, and it had 800 on it when we got it.

In the Twin Lakes area there are lot of UTV's in the area that the locals own. They are everywhere.

can-am is coming out with their version of the RZR it called the commander, check out can-am website...comes with a 800 or 1000 cc engine. i'm sure yamaha isn't far behind with their version also. these things look cool...

The Rzr's are awesome machines...they will go almost everywhere an ATV will. The only place i have seen a Rzr get hung up where an ATV didnt was going through a little rock tunnel...the cage caught. But other than that on all the rides i have been on the Rzrs have gone anywhere a quad has...and more. They are awesome hillclimbers. I have seen guys on rzrs climb more than i would attempt with my 800 X2.

Thanks for posting about the new Canams...i knew they were coming but didnt know they were released yet. If nothing else..>CanAm knows how to make a FAST bike. I bet these 1000's are absolutely insane.

I've ridden the leota trails which are pretty narrow, on a std. rzr. the rzr s is too wide, though. my friend just bought that 4 seater from spicers and its cool for family ridin, could use more guts in deep sand though. If you wanna take the kids like i always do, they are great for that.

I did go online last night and check out the new Can Am Commander. It looks like a crossover sport machine with utility capabilities. Not really what I am looking for unfortunately as I am 'Doo guy at heart. The RZR sems to be where it is at for a pure trail machine.

I like the idea of the 4 seater but am worried that I would not be able to use it for more than cruising the seasonal roads around my cabin in Higgins Lake. Your buddy bought his at Spicer's but where does he ride it at?

I am no expert but I hear the Polaris Ranger and Razor have an unusual high amount of problems. Probably a lot associated with the person using them.

He doesnt have it titled for "street" use but runs it up and down S. Reserve rd to Waco and back & forth to the sand pit off Waco at old 27. The law says use on county rds is ok, but not the seasonal rds.

is the RZR S trail legal since it's wider than the regular rzr on an atv trail? it seems to me that there is a difference between an atv trail and an orv trail

I have had one since they first came out in 07 and have not had any problems with it. But will state that the original air cleaner had a lot to be desired.I replied it with a dragon fire air filter and it works much better. The fine dust will plug the stock filter in the western u.p. I know this for a fact. Adding a windshield makes problem worse.

I have a 2009 RZR s that we run in Wisconsin mainly in Iron County and Lincoln County. We have not had issues with ours at all but I have read others that have nothing but issues. I like the wider stance of the s model as well as the long travel suspension. The cargo area on the s is a bit awkward to say the least but it still works well for taking what we need on a days adventure. We bought ours so that my son could ride next to me rather than behind me on the trails. He likes it a ton better than on the sportsman with a 2up seat plus he is a bit more protected in the rzr.

The only complaint I have the is it is a pisser to clean and I really like my toys clean.
