I found a 2004.5 polaris sportsman 500 HO. It has 200 miles and looks like its right of box. Owner wants 3,400. It has been serviced. Not a scratch on it. Is that a good price. I want one around house when our snow is lacking.

I dont know where your from, but in SO Wi thats a darn good price for the miles and if its mint. These things dont lose valve anywhere near as bad as sleds. It was prolly 5500-6500 new. I have an 06, same except I dont think 04.5 had EFI?, with over 4000 miles, and plenty of branch scratches, and about 5 plugs per tire on half bald tires, and I dont know if Id let mine go for that.

I added more to my post btw.

If its got a K&N filter on it, throw it away and go buy a factory paper filter.

Will do. Think I will snatch it up. Hope we get some snow soon. Suppose to head to up in a couple of weeks. Sled not getting much action yet.

They are good machines. I ride the heck outta mine on the trails in summer, and plow snow in the winter. I had one sensor go bad, was a tech bullentin from polaris. Other than that, just adding plugs to the tires. You should see some of the rocks on the sled trails in Northern WI. Especially by Hurley, its hard to believe we ride sleds on that stuff.

I know we boondock alot but we wait till good base. Stick to trails and forest roads. I've only been on atv a couple of times. I'm looking forward to it.
