Possible huge license increase

I know I'm going to get blasted because, as most of you know I don't ride but, $23.00? Seriously?

While I think "taxing" based on value is a ridiculous concept, I'm sure a vast majority of riders can afford a higher fee than that to register a motorcycle on an annual basis.

Why not use a formula based on the weight of the bike?

That's the way it works on most other vehicles and trailers if I'm not mistaken.

Your mistaken. Cars have been set by cost. Trailers are an one time fixed amount either $75 or $150 as long as you own the trailer. and Bikes are still by weight from way back. A bike does no damage to the roads unless a cager pulls out in front of them. Bikes should be free!!!! Problem is that cars are getting better fuel mileage and cars are paying less fuel taxes because of it, yet maintaining roads costs more and more. So the state needs a way to pay for all those guys leaning on shovels.

Why should bikes be free?
There is no legitimate argument to make that case.
Pay your share like the rest of us do.
If I had a bike, I would have no problem with that. If I used public roads to ride on, I would expect to bend over like everybody else.
$23.00 and YOU are making a stink? Good lord! AND you pull a trailer with yours!

Hazard discount! Lol. You know those cell phone talking, makeup doing, SUBURBAN driving hockey moms who run the road hazard discount. Actually keep in mind how short the bike season is in Michigan and how little damage they do to roads and how little fossil fuels and spew they put out compared to a 3 ton plus suburban that is harder on roads. Cost of the vehicle should have no bearing as to plate cost, totally un related. Reread post #1. I have no issue with $23.

I wouldn't have an issue with $23.00 either.

I have a 3/4 ton Yukon XL. Not a Suburban.

Hazard Discount... That's funny. For $23.00, you ARE just a hazard for those of us who have to pay close to 10 times that AND have to watch out for YOU! You all should be required to ride in the bike lane and stay out of our way! You're lucky I have Bluetooth! :)

You're right, cost should have nothing to do with it. I have to pay the same for my 2005 as Mr. 2013 Escalade pays!

In all seriousness, the whole system sucks! No way I should pay what I (and you) pay for our trucks and bikes get a free ride!

Was anything settled on this?
Does not look like it as of yet. I am looking for info. the House Bill number is 4630 and there are sites if googled that you can follow it. I just don't want to get this into a political chat but more of an informative chat in order to keep within the rules.

With all the money you make, Wayne, I think you should be thrilled to pay $150+ to support the Michigan economy.
