Just got back yesterday from the Spirit/Ogema area... When I left things were in rough shape. Got a TON of rain Thursday, ditches are full of water lakes are all slush. We usually stay up thru New Years but we pulled the pin yesterday. Fishing was lousy at best and the lake is water and slush and hard to get around. There is maybe 3- 4" total of snow on the ground, trails are not even close to rideable. Drove by some parts of the trail where it crosses road and there was lots of standing water. Gonna take a lot of cold weather to freeze all that up, and will need a good dumping of snow to get things rideable. At least in southern Price county. I never seen it rain so hard in December, I'll bet we got 1-2" of rain! If that was all snow I'd still be up there, but how many times have we all said that? Like...every year!

I talked to Price County this morning. Lugerville, Park Falls, Fifield and east of Phillips is good. Thin but flat. Basically everything except SW is rideable. Kennan/Catawba area has been panned but a lot of swamps need more snow to get smoothed out and filled in.

Anyone know how conditions are down by Jump River?

Taylor County is closed. Jump River/Gilman area has very little snow.

North and eastern price county picked up a couple more inches the tail end of the week. Snow continues to evade Catawba-Kennan-Hawkins areas.

Thanks for the update. Have a cabin 10 miles east of Jump, have not rode that area in awhile. Hopefully they get some snow soon.

We must not be too far apart then. Our cabin is about 10 miles upstream from Jump River. Nonetheless, you won't be riding there anytime soon. Old man winter has almost nothing to show for in Jump River except some small drifts and ice. From Ladysmith to Gilman there's almost nothing. It's gotta be the only spot in Wisconsin without any snow.

Otherwise, Price County filled in pretty good with this last few inches. Everything is good except the last stretch from Kennan to Rusk County line-- Rusk County still closed. There were a few sleds at Happy Daze in Kennan a couple days ago so if you're in Price County come down and visit them. They've been stuck on a snowless island this winter and I'm sure would welcome some sleds.

Small world Snowdog, were right by the Jump River fire tower off Cty D. Yes that's odd that they are not getting any snow in that area. We used to love to ride down there. We usually rode north to Hawkins and of course stop at the Jolly Inn. I think that's what it was called, from there would go to Ashland. Loved to ride in those swamps north of Hawkins. Will check with you later in the year to see the conditions. Thanks for the updates.

Great news, thanks for keeping me posted. I always wanted to ride from home to cabin, might try this year as snow seems good all over. Happy trails.
