Went to take off the primary clutches on a 2008, two 2010's and two 2011 ski-doo xp's last night and the only one that came off with ease was the 2008. Any suggestions or "tricks" to get these ones off??

Thanks!

Remove the clutch bolt and pump some grease in the hole. Put in your puller and tighten it up. If it dosen't pop right off, pour some boiling hot water over the clutch shaft and only if need be, lightly tap on the puller with a hammer (but try to just wrench it off).

Oh yeah a 24" breaker bar with another 24" piece of pipe works great for extra torque.

If you know someone with acetylene, this also works good at heating up the shaft. Just do it a little at a time and for sure the grease.

A cheap propane torch will work, just be careful. I bought a 97 MXZ 670 with 7000 miles that the clutch was never taken off. It took a few days, some heat, hot water, grease and a hammer, but it got off. One thing I did was tighen the puller as much as possible and let it set overnite. The next day I took the torch to it, one more tweak with the wrech and POW!

This for the most part work's. Put the belt on drive it out side and goose it a few time's. The belt will keep it from coming all the way off the shaft. Have fun pulling it back in the garage.

I don't know about that. I had a buddy asl to borrow a torque wrench to torque his primary bolt down. I gave him a wrench, but he forgot to do it. With the bolt in place finger tight he made it 1/2 mile and the clutch blew off and broke inpcs. Put a bolt thru the side panel and smashed his secondary.

Scares me.... and I aint afraid of nothin!

I rode 75 miles one night after I realized the bolthead head popped off and the clutch bolt had worked its way out and pushed the plug out of the belly pan.

I dont always put saftey first, but I like to keep it in the top 3.

No offense towards tom_s, just sayin.

Last resort

I did'nt mention the story behind that statement. I broke the puller off in the Primary, then drilled it out for the easy out. Broke the easy out inside the clutch pulller. All this 2 day's before a cooke city trip. I was freaking out. Put the belt on and spun it off with zero problem's. Sorry, Should have mentioned. I would do all that you all have posted before going my route. Hopefully he got the clutch off with the good ole greese trick,

Good luck
