Propane grill

I'm looking into getting a new propane grill. Any suggestions? I've been buying the cheapo's every 4 or 5 years from the big box stores and thinking about buying something decent this time around. The one I have now is a "Thermos" brand from Menard's. I think it started rusting on the way home from the purchase.

I figured I'd get some good input on this site. Probably get a 3 burner. I see Weber has a intro-level "Spirit" brand but it's still pricey and made in China I believe.

And yes, I have a charcoal grill already that I use when time permits.

I have had EXCELLENT results from our Weber Summit series. They are spendy, but ours is going on 8 years old and works like the day we got it. All stainless, so no rusting. Big thick stainless steel grates too, really do a great job of cooking.

I used to go through the cheapos every few years and then finally bit the bullet and bought one that was suppose to last a long time and has so far and is paying for itself nicely. We use it several times a week, all year long.

Same here on the Weber Summit. Ours only goes outside when in use, but it's over 14 years old now and no plans for a new one in the near future.

Weber Genesis is the only way to go. I got a 330 which was about $800. All stainless and high quality. Love it. If you grill out as much as I do it's worth the $$ in the end.

After replacing the burner and grates several times in my cheapie grill over the past 20+ years, I finally moved up to a Weber and I'm glad I did. I have had a Weber Spirit series grill for 3 years and love it so far. It cooks very evenly and seems to be much better quality than the cheapie models. The Spirit series is the "low" end of the Weber line of gas grills but I love mine so far. If you want to spend more, the Genesis or Summit models look great also but cost considerably more.

I also suggest Weber, have had mine for 20 years and only had to replace the flavor bars once, I purchase a Ducane for the cabin which cost more and had to replace the bottom grate several times. I would only buy a weber from now on.

I also have a Weber Spirit 3 burner and sits outside all year under a cover. It cooks evenly and I like that the bottom part of the grill is cast, not some cheap steel that rusts out. Only thing that I can see needing replacing eventually from rust is the covers that go over the burners. Do not lift the grill by the trays on the side, I had 2 bolts snap off and put better ones in. If you do, do it carefully.

Another vote for Weber. You always see other brand grills out by the street on bulk garbage day but you seldom see Webers. When my wife replaced our 20+ year old Weber, our son called dibs on our old one.

Got to go Weber, have one about 20 years old at my camper. Just replaced burners and still works great.

Had a Brinkman at home and the wind blew it over 3 times and now burners are shot , just bought a new Weber for home.
I think I will rip all the gas parts from the Brinkman and make it into a smoker or maybe just give it to the scrap man.

Charbroil Commercial Infrared is my pick. First one lasted 8 years and was still going, but I preferred to get the upgraded model. Love the grills and the grates, all of which you can put in a dishwasher if you choose. You could actually smoke meats and bake cakes in this one. Not too bad price wise either------$399 @ Lowes. If you can wait, get it in the fall as there will be sales.

Weber holds the line on price so whether you buy from the big box or the true value down the road it will cost the same. I work PT at a big box and the only time I have seen a price drop is if a certain Weber grill is on clearance...not saying they never go on sale, just that I never saw it yet.
I got my 1st Weber 2 years ago and love it....3 burner all SS.

If you don't get a Weber get a grill with a decent amount of space between the grate and flame.

We've got a Weber Genesis that's 16 years old. Replaced the grates 2X, the flavorizer bars 4-5 times. I set of burners. That's it. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

I bought my weber at a stein garden center not on sale but offered $80 dollars in stein bucks that I used on other garden supplies so kinda like a sale. Just have to check with retailers see if they offer anything like that. I have a summit 4 burner at home burners run front to back so you can section off side to side, and a Genesis up north( old one from home still in great shape) that is a 3 burner that run side to side. Also the Genesis gives the option of stainless or porcelain coated flavor bars and grates both work very well just think the stainless last longer and may cost a little more. Also you can get replacement parts without having to junk the whole grill.

I have two grills, the newer of the two is a Weber Genesis 3 burner stainless. The older one is a Holland Grill, Heritage model.

When I want to do something quick like burgers or a steak I normally go with the Weber, heats quickly. If I have time and want to do some chicken, fish or veggies like asparagus I use the Holland. The Weber is hard to regulate the heat even though it has a thermometer. It works best at 400 deg. but you really have to watch it. You think you have it set at 400 and you come back out and it will run away on you getting too hot. That drives me nutz and can wreck a good steak.
The Holland is either on or off. It regulates itself to one temp, 400 degrees and its pretty hard to burn anything on it unless you plain leave it there forever. The meat stays juicier and the grate has a finer mess to it so stuff doesn't fall in, supports the food better. Hollands are great grills but the flame is hidden under a drip pan so it acts more like a convection oven but they do a great job. Some people don't like them saying they don't seer a steak. If that means more to you then go with the Weber, otherwise I kind of like the Holland better.

I like Weber just for the fact that you can actually get replacement parts easy for them. I have cooked on Grills I like better but they were insane amounts of money. If I lived in a warmer climate I would have a pellet grill, they use too many pellets when it's cold out and I grill all year.

I have a Charbroil Commercial Infared. Love it. I got sick of rebuilding junk units. Weber is way pricey. Not sure if all that. Seen them at 10% off once.
