Propane info in the Keweenaw today

here is what I found today and I'm locking in tomorrow.

Lagasco (Chassell) 2.09 now 2.19 to lock in with them and no money down

Keweenaw Petro (Houghton) 1.99 now, 1.99 to lock in for the yr.. rates good thru Friday

Settler's Coop (Bruce Crossing) 1.80 now 1.90 lock in....price thru Friday

Ferrell gas (Houghton) 1.59 Now, lock in at 1.79..price thru Friday. I'm going to fill now and go prebuy 1000 gallons.

Ferrell seemed to be the nicest and most timely as far as answering my questions. I have been with Lagasco (suburban propane) since 2007 and no more....I don't see how places can be $0.50 per gallon different at these prices.... Lagasco is 22.34% higher than Ferrell...

I am still on the lookout for a propane tank.

The white stuff is almost here....

The reason one can be cheaper than the other? Volume friend, volume. Ferrellgas is huge, so no doubt they buy significantly more propane from the refiner/distributor, than the local business. Or they have excess inventory they have to move. Be careful of Ferrellgas....they will lowball on price to get your business, and then jack you on the next order. So quote it every time to avoid their game.

I plan to price it out everytime...The lady did tell me it was the new customer rate....I told her I may just be a new customer in 2 yrs and she didn't get it.

anyway, I thought it was funny....I will review it each yr.

I had ferrel for years but got tired of their BS fees. Come on, hazemat fee for propane-its hazardous by nature and you are charging extra for it? Delivery charge, lock in charge, etc. Around here they were the highest and their tank yard is FULL of empty tanks. Mine is $1.69 and NO extra charges period, just the cost of the gas.

I did notice a butt load of tanks in their yard.....I asked it they'd sell me one and I had the cash to pay and they said they haven't sold tanks in years..

maybe it's better to have them sitting it their yard doing nothing...I'm not kidding there must have been a hundred there...

Oh well, I did get the "new customer rate" and can't help but to giggle when I think I could be new customer again in 2 yrs!!
