Question on saddle bag trips.

Do you saddle bag folks reserve your rooms in advance, or do you just wing it? I am talking about midweek stuff. I understand weekends might be hard to find a room.

Just wing it. It is more fun that way. You never know how good or bad the trails may be. If you don't have reservations, you can adjust your days ride depending on how the trails are.

Wing it! nothing like riding another 100 miles to the next town after finishing 240 miles, since no one told you about the winterfest going on and all rooms are booked for miles. (happened to me.) We set reservations and explain that we may run behind or not make it until the next day since we are on snowmobiles. And ask options. I have never been turned away for being late. Key is call your motel ASAP if you are behind a day and ask if they have room for you the next night. The owners say to me that no one does that and they are so happy I called.

Mid week "wing it"!!! Made a few of these trips and we had all our reservations made ahead of time. Ran into white out and VERY low temps one time but had to keep going as our room was another 100 miles away!! Last time i did that....have always winged it since and never had any trouble finding places to put in for the evening. Nothing like being caught out in a winter storm in the middle of U.P. somewhere and knowing you just gotta tough it out till u get there. Nice to not be committed to a room some place so u can adjust sched. according to conditions. Weekends might be another story however.

Midweek saddlebag trips are the BEST way to ride!
As long as your igloo building skills are honed just wing it!
Seriously, In the past, I've had buddies who couldn't find a motel on weekends but always found someone to let 'em shack up for the night.

Another vote for wing it. I don't saddlebag anymore but when I did I never had a problem finding a place. Even on the weekends! This was doing 8-10 trips a season to the Yoop. I would drop off at the Gateway in Lando and head north.

With the recent snow it opens up more options of places to go. Wing it, sometimes you find the nices places and the nices people by stopping in the little towns. Thats what I am doing next week.

Wing it. We have been out without even planning to catch a room a couple times. It is always a good idea to carry a set of socks and clean shorts. Toothbrush doesn't hurt either.
