I was wondering if any one here does spray foam insulation in the Rhinlander area. I have a 24x24 garage with a 4-5/12 roof also the walls have plywood on the inside so I thought I could blow cellulose in them. All responses welcome

I called for a quote for 3 walls in my house. One wall was 22'x9' other was 16'x9' and the last one was 11'x9' these where all about 8" deep. This was in the lower level of a Quad-level so the wall were built out some for the top 7'. Anyways they told me about $450 problem was they would not come out to do a job for under a $1,000. To much setup etc.

I'm a big fan of the cellulose. I am amazed at the performance, wont burn, mildew and resist pests. Foam is supposed to be even better. Foam you can blow on ceilings where as cellulose you hang the rock on the ceiling and than blow, foam IMO is a better way to go for that. May have to just price it out and make the decision from there but one thing is for sure, fiberglass is so inferior to foam and cellulose, The last thing you wanna do is compromise on insulation.

I did the blow in cellulose insulation in my garage with great success. You can rent the equipment from Home Depot and do the job yourself for next to nothing. The insulation is cheap.

Spray foam is great stuff, expensive but worth it. But if you can't find anyone locally might be out of luck.

On my cabin all the quotes were over 5K for a job that would cost 2K in town.
Nobody wanted to go up there to do it, so they jacked up the bid so I'd go away.

That was 7 years ago, now days they might knock each other over for a job.

Do it yourself. Cover everything. I mean everything. Get a disposable suit and goggles.

Spray foam adds structure to the building and really keeps things quiet. Plan on covering the foam with a fire rated barrier though.

For the ceiling, I second the comment from Amazza76. I just did a 1400 sf garage to R19with the Atticat fiberglass blow-in insulation from Home Depot. Total cost was $425, and my wife and I completed this New Years Day in under than two hours.

I looked at the web site for do it yourself maybe I cant do math a 24*15 ft ceilng x2 would that be 720 sq ft x3" I would need 2880 board feet which would come out to around $3000 just for the ceiling

I had a 5400 square foot house plus 28 x 32 garage done for 10 grand so surley your garage would be less than $1000 especially if you diy, foam is the only way to go

A good friend of mine built a house outside of Madison and had the exterior walls sprayed. I think they did 2" Spray with a bat overlay. Spray foam is a R6 value per 1" so you really don't need a ton of foam. So the differance in price could be based onthe tickness.
Are you planning on spraying the the foam at the roof or do plan on spraying between the ties? What about foam board on the ceiling and wedged between the rafters I know it not cheap to do it that way but it could be an option that you could do on your own.
