I always run premium gas in my Snowmobiles. No ethanol. I have heard this before that if you empty your gas tanks down to about a gallon and then put in about a gallon of race fuel that the carb stay a lot cleaner over the summer.I start my sleds during the summer but with the season near the end for a couple of my sleds has anyone have good or bad story's about this.I would run on race fuel for only five minutes I would think that would be long enough to have the fuel in all the lines and carbs.I have always cleaned my carbs myself every year on all five sleds.Only thing I've seen bad because of gas is my water traps have been replaced on every sled.Carb boots only on one.Any good advice on this. Thanks

I purchased two new sleds last spring at the end of the season, actually there was no snow left. my dealer said he put 1 gallon of race fuel in each sled just so they could start them and check them out for me. He told me this is what they do to all their sleds as the fuel does not break down that fast. I also use only none oxy premium fuel, but on my last day of riding I put sea foam in the tank and fog the engine.

Old Abe knows his fuels & I learned a lot from him & his posts then I did deep dive on internet & he was right on....maybe he will chime in? I never did the race fuel for summer storeage & not sure I see the value or know risks running your sled on race fuel. SeaFoam & premium always worked for me & now with 4s shut it down don't start till time to ride. With 2s I was running all the time knew I would be changing plugs and wanted to move fuel thru 4s not so much but did it both ways now leave it alone fires right up not a problem.

I got rid of my last 2 stroke with carbs 3 years ago and also have a 4s fuel injected machine now.Use same method as WDust. On my old 2s Viper the carbs were prone to get gummed up easy because the pilot jets were small. I tried all the usual stuff, Stabil, Seafoam with no luck. Still had to clean carbs every year. Then we stumbled upon the Schaeffer's Neutra fuel stabilizer. This stuff was the ticket. No more carb cleaning. Its the sh!t, I have loads of people using it now. Problem is it isn't easy to find. We found out about it through a farmer. They have trouble with their combine's being they sit most of the year. Usually the stuff has to be bought through a traveling agent but some small motor shops have it. You just need to look at the dealer locator for your area.

As for the race fuel, no go as I can't say. A friend of mine used AV gas for years on his SRX sleds and claims he had good luck doing so, I tried it once and still had issues. Problem is the AV gas this time of year is full of de-icer additives.
