Radon Gas

I need to have the radon gas in my home taken care of. From what I have heard and read online, it will probably cost me more than $1000 to have a pro do the job. I think I could do it myself for half of that cost. It does not look like a very difficult project, maybe a little time consuming. I am wondering if any of my fellow JDers have done this or had it done by a pro. What have been your experiences.
