Rainbow Lodge closing for winter

I read on www.sno-trails.net which is Grand Marais trail report site that Rainbow Lodge is going to close for the winter. This will make it almost impossible to run from Paradise to Grand Marais because of gas. I know Pine Stump has new owners but don't know what their operating hours are. So if anyone knows what hours Pine Stump will be open would be helpful.

Yep have to be careful with play time when range is a problem. There is always that 1 guy in a group who does not have a clue where he is or what the problem is. Been there done that.

Just a heads up. I know I have had to depend on Rainbow in the evenings for fuel. They had a bell you could ring and they would take care of you no matter what time it was. And depending on what route you take from Paradise to Grand Marais it is closer to 100 miles. (North trial/White Fish Point trail) Myself when up in that area I"m not real big on passing up a fuel opertunity so far away from civilization. Anyways I'm just hoping Pinestump will be open later during the week days than the Old Guy who owned it before was. You never knew when he would close...sometimes very early during the week days.

I also heard that they built a new bridge to go north from Shingelton.
Don't have the ride the road and ditch anymore.

You will find Pine Stump very reliable on their hours. Since they reopened this past summer they have been very busy with great food. They can be counted on for gas till 10:00PM any day and I believe they plan on being open a bit later on weekends during the winter if the business is there. If you gas up at the Stump there will no problem making it to Paradise even with a poor mileage sled.

Great info. I have never had an issue with Paradise to Grand Marais even with a pre VES Poo 800 xcsp. Gas at shingleton is much needed. Melstrand suppose to have gas this year. Doing the crazy 8's and Kingston Plains makes for gas a must. I have run out on the Bear trap parking lot before. with Shingleton closed it took me 4 1/2 hrs. to get 5 gallons of gas delivered and a nice price to boot to get me out of there. You can only hang out so long.

Yes, no more ditch or road riding to leave north out of Shingleton.
The bridge is supposed to go north and over the creek that caused the problem.
