I am going to see Steely Dan there on 08-02, have never been there & coming in from the twin cities MN. Can anyone give me some pointers on where to stay around there (hotels) & if the food in there is worth buying or should we just bring our own in? Oh there is about 10 of us going. Construction traffic? Thx chicagoans.

We were there a month ago visiting my sister-in-law and stayed at the Courtyard Marriot a half a mile from there. Very nice and close to Ravina. They have a couple parking areas right there and maybe even a shuttle from the hotel. We were there when Sting played and traffic was backed up but not all that bad. You shouldn't have any construction or traffic problems unless you stay in the city.

get there early for a good spot. Bring candles, blanket, food and cooler. Have a great time. We love going there. They do a great job spraying for bugs, which is nice.

keep in mind that I90 between rockford and elgin is under construction. unless you are traveling during off hours, you might want to come down from milwaukee on 94

Just actually came back from the twin cities last Friday for a college visit. There is construction on a good portion of 90 but we were at off times in the day so traffic was never really an issue. People usually bring like wine, cheese, and crackers if you are into that kinda foofy thing, otherwise the food possibilities are endless because there is just so many places that the suburbs offer.

Wish I would have seen this thread sooner, I work in HP. could have given you all the low down. And I hope your trip was a pleasant one...

Thanks again everyone. We did have a blast, although we did get some strange looks from the "in crowd" as we opened our coolers full of leinenkugels & budweisers. Some of our crew did the shotgun thing with their beers (more pointing & laughing) from other concert goers... Ha everyone is eatin cheese & crackers, we whip out bologna, & ham sandwiches. (more looks) & a bucket of chicken wings. Some yuppies behind us were in shock when I whipped out the venison jerky. Then went on to make margaritas with a blender powered by a makita battery. I have never been to a concert where you could not see the band, strange days indeed. All in all a great time.

the strange looks were looks of envy.....go next year and other people will have a margarita maker just like yours! We have been lazy lately and pick up a Lou Malnati's pizza on the way in....
