Hi John,
Just a note to let you know that the last journal you wrote had a big effect on me. You see, my dad was also born on July 28, 1929. I always think of how old he would of been if he were with us today.
Unfortunately he passed some time ago (Nov 27, 1983) at the age of 54.
My dad always talked about twins. Not biological twins, but twins that were born on the same date and year as he was. He would always say that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was his twin as she was born on the same date as he. Now there was another "twin" that I can refer to, being your dad also.
As time goes by, the loss seems to subside some, but my dad is always in my thoughts as the years pass by. I also occasionally will dream about him & how he somewhat visits me when I sleep. sometimes it seem so real like I can touch him again.
When we had his service I read this poem that I wrote for him that I occasionally say in my mind,
Today we mourn the loss of my dad
And what he meant to us,
for he was my great old man
who never gave much fuss

When we were young we looked to him
for our sense of direction
he gave us his love
with all the best of affection

somedays dad would get mad at us
and not let us play with our toys
but it was for our own good
you try to raise 5 fine boys

today dad is not here with us
it is so sad to say
but always remember
dad is not gone, he is just away

Nice writings Snomoman.

Pretty cool they were born on the same day. I remember my parents talking about how my dad shared a birthday with Jackie O.

Take care!
