Looking at replacing the rear springs on a 96 Cougar MC. Can this be done w/o dropping the skid? OR would it just make more sense do drop the skid and go over everything else...Either way, how big of a job is this and are there any special tools/tricks to it? Thanks!

It makes alot of sense to remove the skid. Cahnces are the bushings in the scissors arms need to be checked out as well as the idler wheel bearings. The shocks should also be inspected and replaced if needed. It is also time to replace the hyfax if needed. You can go further and clean and paint any rusted components. This should be done every other season if not every season.

i replaced a set on a 05 z 440. had to have my local ac dealer press idler wheels off to get springs off. i'm not sure if your sled would be the same. if this is the case i think you would have to drop skid.
