Red Pine Mapping

I have used a Garmin GPS and Red Pine Mapping maps for years and have been very satisfied with the product. Ryan has always made updates available for downloads and I found it quite easy to follow his instructions and get the maps on my GPS.

I used the link on the John Dee site to try to get new maps this year and found a different procedure where Red Pine wants to charge shipping rather than a download. I also tried to contact Ryan by email, support@redpinemapping.com, and found the email not deliverable. The website does not seem to offer support either.

Does anyone know what is going on with Red Pine?

I just checked the site as I too have bought from them in the past. It all seams to be working. Infact when I tried to get a shipping rate it said, "Error : error This cart does not require shipping". I did notice the default is to have the data put on an SD card. Did you forget to pick download? The Download was $29.95 the SD card was $44.95 plus shipping. Also, when you get to check out the only difference in the description is Yes or NO, which answers if you want a SD card. Hope this helps...

I got the download. There is a problem with selecting paypal on the first page. So I solved the first problem.

Now I can't get the file to open. When I go to open the file, I go to an additional screen which asks me what I want to open it with. Any suggestions? Is there a new support email?

Sorry going off memory now, but I think Garmin Express is a free tool to upload map data. I know I normal use Garmin MAPSOURCE.

Here's an update on my problem. Emily sent an updated link so the exe file loaded into mapsource properly. I also found that the emailed link for a download did not work properly using Internet explorer. I used Google and Gmail and it worked fine.
