Registration Location

How critical are they on the Registration Location? As in Iowa and Michigan they require it to be on windshield or around headlight, that sucks....
I change my windshield every now and then so I don't want to stick it to the windshield and really dont like sticking it to it or the hood.
So am i asking for trouble if i stick them on the sides of the dash area????
I would hate for this to be a reason to get pulled over..

The registration in Michigan does not need to be on the windshield. It needs to be on the front half of the sled and must be visible on both sides of the machine.
The trail permit however needs to be centered above or below the headlight and visible to law enforcement.
