Regsitration Stickers Placement - '09 Apex

Got my registration stickers and wanted opinions on where you put them. Cowling down low is rough plastic and stickers won't adhere. Not really room on the hood.

I was thinking either side of the gas tank, it's a nice smooth surface. Or on the tunnel vertical piece below the seat and just back from the footwells.

Be careful about the stickers. There was discussion on this board about that last year and somebody got a ticket for having them toward the rear on their sled.

WI dnr states that the sled registration must be prominately visible on both side of the cowling.

That limits to where you can place the registration.

I know, I've been around the block a few times. 10 years ago or so I had a new MXZ 670 and put the stickers on the tunnel and got into it with the DNR dude up in Presque Isle, just west of town. He let me off because I was respectful and kissed azz, but told me I had to relocate to the cowling. I haven't always had them on the cowling the last couple years and never had a hassle. But I want to be sure and that's why I asked the question.

I HAD MINE JUST BELOW THE WINDSHIELD, ON THE SIDES OF THE COWL.
JUST RECIEVED MY NEW 2010'S AND THEY ARE GOING ON THE SIDES OF THE LARGER WINDSHIELD I JUST PUT ON.

You could always get registration plates from Sled Solutions. Then you can put them on the lower cowl and not have to worry about them sticking.

I had an Apex, heated that rough plastic with a heat gun and they stick very well, 3k miles and never a problem. I put mine on the plastic just in front of the foot wells. Heating it solves the problem.

The stickers will adhere on the lower black textured part of the sled with a little coaxing. I used an adhesion promoter product by 3M that we use in the auto industry.

Here is a shot of where I place mine. This is the same rough plastic that you are referring to.

All I did was wipe down the area with some denatured alcohol & apply, no problems with adhesion or the law.-Mezz

Fusion I put WI registration on both side panels & MI very low on windshield. My 2007 graphics are different so need to see your 2009 side shots (pictures) to look for best placement without messing up graphics. Can you post pictures?

I ride in the Keweenaw only and keep them in my bag on the back of the sled.

Fusion,

I have to admit that is one fine looking sled.

PMed you pics of my Attack ....didn't want to mess with downsizing.... but you have plenty of room on side panels for WI reg.

I am one who got a ticket last year for having them in the wrong spot. I still think it is BS, but you should put them up front and as visible as possible. Otherwise it is a very easy for the state to make money off you. $100 lesson I had to learn. Then you have to go buy $5 replacement stickers and put them in the right spot. The officer who stopped me wasn't offering warnings.
