Renewing a snowmobile registration

Just an FYI to all when you renew your registration make sure you get the correct sled renewed.

I stopped in at the DMV yesterday to renew my registration but I did not have the card (that got mailed to me). The lady asked me a few questions as she clicked/typed in her computer. She told me how much it was, I wrote the check, she gave me the new registration and out the door I went. Had the day off today so I was going to finish getting the sleds ready, went to put the new state registration sticker on and noticed it was for my old sled that I no longer own!

I called my local DMV (not the one I got the stickers from) and they said I had to go to the same place I purchased the renewal from. I called them and they said yup the can fix the problem but I had to do it today. Well that sucks as I did not want to drive back to that side of town (about 50-55 miles).

I called the DNR and we got it all straightened out and they said they will send me the correct registration.

This was my mistake for not checking the registration before I paid for it and walked out the door. Not putting the blame on any one, just a friendly reminder to think about next time you renew anything.

Merry Christmas all.......BRING ON THE SNOW!!!

Been there, Our SOS (DMV) office said I had 18 sleds. Which one you renewing? I said, what? I am down to 2 this yr. Well, I spent about an hr. (including line stand around time) to sort it all out. If you sell a sled and it leaves the state it never seems to come off your ownership in MI. Computers must not talk between states. Some people don't register the sled until your stickers all expire so they get a yr. or 2 for free. Some sleds end up as ride around the house only sleds, and a few went to Canada as ice fishing sleds. They only have to show fishing license there to keep from registering it. Some got parted out. What a pain.

Perfect time to point out that it will stay on your record until it is registered again in MI. If it goes to another state it usually doesn't show up in MI records. I found this out last year. So when you go to get your license (or anything renewed) talk nice to the lady and ask them to look at how many sleds you have registered to you. If there is a problem they have a form that you can fill out right there to claim either sold or destroyed.
