Rental Sleds

So does anybody else notice that areas that offer rental sleds (Eagle River) contain the most parking lot superstars? Idiots triggering the throttle BRAAP-BRAAP-BRAAP, goosing it from the pump, parked three wide in the middle of the trail, and checking out their rooster tails. Seriously I have seen it and its annoying these posers that want to try out snowmobiling and make a total *** of themselves.

I see it all the time. It's pure logic. The places that have the most rental sleds are going to have the most inexperienced riders, especially a big tourist area like Eagle River. I always laugh when I am at Trackside picking up parts and the guy in line in front of me is handing over his credit card to pay for damage he did to the rental sled.

I agree....but as a renter myself please do not throw all of us in the same category. We ride out of the Lake Gogebic area every year and know what we are doing. Unfortunately, the 5-6 of us are younger, just starting families and don't have the time nor the excess cash to buy sleds, trailer, insurance and all the other expenses that go along with sledding. We get in our long weekends when we can and love it.

But, there are some idiots out there!

Yes, there are!! You can say that about just about everything in the world. I guess, we all start out as "posers" and if the activity is something we don't enjoy, we leave it. If it is, we enjoy it more, and grow up some along the way. I've seen the same things, but they have to start somewhere. Just don't enjoy meeting them in the northwoods- when they drive like they are on the track.

Agreed i have owned one sled in my life as im only 19 when the sled gave out with only 6051 miles i couldnt afford to rebuiled it. So the last two years ive rented sleds please dont bash all renters because im sure there are many in my position. life happens ya know i just now got the money to rebuild it its a sabercat 700. wont be done before we head up to trout lake to our cabin this month but itll be done soon. I my self have seen many of the people you mention they are complete a$$es and are normaly the one that give us a bad name with going off trail and in places they are simply not welcome..
