replacing rubber seal/strip on front of clamshell trailer

The rubber seal/strip on the front of our 2 place clamsheet is cracked and kind of old and brittle. Where can I find a replacement for this - trailer shop or hardware store? The strip typically gets caught underneath the shell when it opens and closes - I think if it was a little longer, it wouldn't do that.

Did you post this same question on another site?

Go to a hardware store and see if they sell 2"W strips of rubber either in bulk or packaged. Look in the area where window insulation materials are as well. Another option would be Menards, Home Depot, Fastenal or Grainger. Should not be too difficult to find what you need.

Also, search the web for "2" wide rubber". Just found this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEOPRENE-RUBBER-ROLL-1-8-THK-X-2-WIDE-x10-ft-LONG-60-DURO-5-/261647109239

If you have a trailer place close, try them, otherwise try a body shop, those guys deal with rubber molding all the time. Maybe they would have some ideas for ya.

mine went to **** aswell......I completely added a new one.

Bought a new one from Grainger that had the rubber portion on the bottom and an aluminum flange/material on top and then screwed it on the out side of my trailer with nice S.S. screws and locknuts on the inside. it works and does not look bad at all. If I did not point it out to you, you would most likely not even notice it.

I have never purchased anything for a trailer from this place but I'd be surprised if they didn't have what you need. http://netherlandrubber.com/ They have been able to come up with some pretty odd stuff for us over the years that we couldn't find anywhere else.

Thanks for the info. I never was concerned about it, but I moved some used couches this weekend that were given to us from my wife's family, and then we got stuck in a downpour. A decent amount of water came in the front - good thing the couches slid to the back or they would have gotten wet. Hopefully the rain isn't an issue when going snowmobiling but still good to keep it dry as can be in there.
