Rescued in grand maria

Had a jack shaft bearing go out 5 miles east of grand mariaS. Limpt in to town. Made a call to adventure centre arctic cat, closest cat dealer i knew of and they sent a a great guy out in his truck to pick me up and haul me and the sled back to the shop. Thats 110 miles one way! Bob taylor owner of the dealership, had my cat back going in 4 hours after replacing all 4 bearings. Our group is from illinois and this is the first time we rode over the eastern u.p. Area. Didnt know bob before and never done business up in that area, but after that we will always make a point to return, nice professional people, great service! Our ride took us (before the melt down) from eagle river wisconsin to paridise mi. Great folks and trails along the way.

Yep, they are good people. I broke a recoil spring on a backpack trip. We called them just as they were closing, and they stayed late. We were 45 minites away. When we got there they fixed me right up. Whenever we are in the area we stop there and buy something just because.

Dealers as dedicated to the sport as you are, deserve to be patronized as much as possible. Not all dealers are created equally. So why not go to those who treat you like they want your business?

Thanks for the report.

I know we can't report the dealers that are less than enthusiastic about the biz....but by gar....why can't we keep track of the ones that take that extra step.....

Maybe a new place to post these things so we can ALL take note????

That's a great idea, to have a suggested dealer thread accompanied by stories. Seems like it's vital to keep the guys in business that are located where you ride. After the "luck" I've had, my next sled will be purchased new from a dealer where I'll ride the sled!

Now i like that idea! We talk and blog about resturants, and places to stay, why not dealers that are about keeping you out on the trails. Many of the riders are from hundreds of miles away and many only have that 4-7 trip planed for the year, so we dont know the dealers or little shops that the locals do. This would be a great help. Because its not "if you have trouble... Its when you have trouble" ill start by saying adventure centre at rt 892 cr 480 marquette, mi 906-226-7000 great people, extra mile service and parts, ask for bob!!!

You are right! The s is silent, its a french thing. It is located up on the shore of lake gitchigoomie about half way between marquette, mich and paridise mich.

I just called Bob about a month ago for some service work on an engine that I was working on, he was less than helpful. It seemed like he didn't want to do the work and was kind of ignorant on the phone, the price that I was quoted was more than twice as much as a few other places that I called, and the wait was too much. I have heard good and bad about a lot of places but this is my experience. I will never do business there again.

Adventure Centre Arctic Cat

I have to add my 2 cents...Bob from A.C. Arctic Cat is a class act and fantastic supporter of snowmobiling. My wife got hit head-on heading to Marquette from Big Bay and Bob sent his driver out with his trailer, drug her sled off the trail, and eventually sold us a new sled off the showroom while the rest of my group had lunch across the street. We only have a couple days to ride, and they do everything they can to get you back on the trails. Nobody is perfect but he runs a nice outfit. Lets support those that go the extra mile for us "infrequent" visitors...

Great to hear that you got great service from Adventure Center and you were back on the trail to enjoy some UP sledding. For future reference, I believe Renze Power Sports in Munising (formerly Munising Pro Sports) is still a Cat dealer. They are closer to Grand Marais.

I bought my M8 from Bob and was supper good guy to deal with, plus gave me a great deal on sled. I have heard some stories of less than steller deals with him though. It is nice that he rides sleds himself, dont find that much down by me.

Since I read this I will give them another chance. I have had only a couple of dealings with them and they were not all that positive (no idea who I dealt with?). But since I read some good things here and I consider it my 'local' dealer I am willing to give it another shot.

Bob and the crew were able to get me back on the trail in a day and a half after losing two pistons and a cylinder. Add me to the satisfied customer list.

Being from illinois the only help i had was my tral map, that had a advertisement for the adventure center arctic cat, with the phone number. The gas station and brew pub in grand marias didnt have any ideas, so i called off the map, and every thing worked out, thats good to know about the closer dealer, thanks for the info.

Bought my 2011 Crossfire from Bob this fall. I like the fact that they actually have some sleds on the showroom floor.
