Restaurant suggestions needed

Every other week we go to our camp near Amasa, MI. My route back home to WI takes me through Florence and Dunbar WI onto Hwy. 141 just south of Pembine. From there, I take 141 to 41 to Green Bay. I have yet to find a good, reasonably priced burger bar and/or steak/seafood restaurant along this route. I am open for any suggestions the forum might have to offer.

I take that route on my way to/from Houghton and I have to agree with you, there isn't much especially since they made a good portion of it 4 lanes now. We've had burgers and watched the Packer game at a place in Crivitz. It is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of 141 and W (the only set of stop lights on 141). It was pretty good.

There is also a good place in Wausaukee, on the east side of 141 just south of the BP station. Don't remember the name but it had half log wood siding, and looked pretty nice from the outside.

I go that way to,and agree there isnt much to choose from. like asmski said, the only place I've found is the place in Crivits.......

The restaurant in Crivitz is the Gateway, not bad, but imo sort a tourist trap. Always looking for the 'local' spots. Once in a while I will take an alternate route through Aurora, there are three or four restaurants there. One we stopped at had the overpriced hamburger and broasted chicken on the menu. So so food, high price, I will not be back.

Guess I will have to alter from my course once in a while a try a few spots.

We wanted to eat lunch in Amasa on trail but could not find a thing so we bought candy bars at 24 hour gas station & moved on. Gas station had a grill cafe in back but was closed. Pretty nice grocery store with big wooden shelves.

when you are at the gas station(tall pines) just head around back on the side road to the 'T', turn right,go two blocks, turn left, cross the tracks and whoalla, downtown Amasa.
kinda looks like Radiator Springs. they even have a Mater tow truck in town..........

or...... when you come from Republic....... when you come out of the woods at the road with the RR tracks turn left instead of right......downtown is about 1/2 mile.

HH,
Once you get to the intersection of 141/8, head north about a mile. On your left is a supper club called Paris in Pembine. They are open in the evenings only I believe, but great chicken, seafood, burgers also, etc..

PatK - I second the Paris in Pembine. In Wausaukee, the Ranger Family Restaurant has OK food, but no bar and no TV's.

Amski - The log sided bar burned up about a year ago and I don't think that they reopened, but I could be wrong so don't blast me.

If you want steak and seafood, I would recommend Fontana's in Iron Mountain or the T&T Supper Club in Aurora. The only thing I don't like about the TNT is that they make you wait in the bar b4 you eat. Romangoli's is also good in Iron Mountain.

madddog-Second the T&T for the best steaks, worth the wait.
I'm thinking the log sided restaurant in Wausaukee mentioned earlier in a post is Newingham's supper club.

There was a bar in Middle Inlet that burned last year, but now the sign in front says opening soon. It is right across from the concrete plant.

HH-thought of two more stops for you. As you're heading south through Crivitz, turn right at the lights and follow the signs for Hwy W until you get to the Riverside Bar on the right side of the street.
If you happen to turn left at the lights on 141, follow Hwy W to the east for approx 4-5 miles. There will be a sign on your left that will point you to Loopy's, which is located on Loomis Road.

Newingham's Supper Club that is the one I was thinking of. Stopped there last year, good burgers but not the cheapest.
