Has anyone put retread tires on their truck ? There is a company called tread wright ther are in south dakota. They have a tire that is just like the bfg all terrain . The tires are less than half the price.

Not a fan of retreads for personal vehicles. I think semi's use them alot but if they blow one no big deal still have 17 on the ground.

Also not a fan of retreads on personal vehicles...although I've never used them on my pickups, I've seen the damage done on the milk trucks I use to drive when the tread comes loose and flops around doing 60mph. The trucks have stainless steel "skirting" and the tire can mangle it pretty good requiring a welding shop to fix. Just imagine what it would do to your wheelwell on your car or pickup? Usually the tread didn't give any indication of coming loose when inspected in the morning either. Lucky to get 1/2 to 3/4 the miles out of a retread tire compared to regular tire. Also, not sure about personal vehicles but in some states it is illegal to run retreads on front tires of trucks.

Don't do the retread deal on your personal vehicle. Don't ever ever do recaps on the front axle!! Not worth the savings to blow one at 60-70 mph and end up in the bushes against a tree.........

Plus if you blow one and it hits another vehicle and causes damage or loss of control and you're liable if they see it come from your vehicle! Not for use on personal vehicles in my opinion.

I ran with retreads for years....back when I couldn't afford new tires. I never had a problem with them and they were 1/2 price.

Remember when a retread goes, the tread comes off, but the carcus stay intact...so it isn't like having a blow-out. Tread just comes loose or off. There are federal safety guidelines for retreading tires so they only put them on decent quality carcuses.
