Rev XP chaincase

All my older revs there was a plug underneath to drain and change chaincase oil, My 2011 Rex XP does not have a drain plug. There is a square bolt on the chain case
Cover that I have been told is a sensor, I guess all it does is when oil starts to come out of that hole you know it is full. So my question is, how the **** do you change
The chain case oil? Take the whole cover off? And if so, where do you refill? Also is there even a dipstick like my old rev to check chain case oil level? Please
explain in detail because I guess I am a dumb ***.

you must remove the cover or loosen enought to drain, not real easy, exhaust silencer must come off, be careful with the retaining bolts, they are self threading and are very easy to cross thread . you fill by removing the rubber vent or attach the fill bottle spout to the vent hose , remove the pipe plug and fill till it runs out , then brake clean the **** out of what has run all over , LOL 75w 140 synthetic gear oil

Pull the entire cover but be careful removing the bolts, they strip easy in the magnesium chain case. Drain the oil, clean out all of the metal shavings if any, adjust the chain tensioner, pull the black plastic plug (covers the top gear basically) with the breather hose in it, replace the cover (again careful not to strip anything), fill the chain case until oil comes out the bottom square headed plug (sled has to be flat) - 8-10 oz I think.

I remember some grumblings over on DT about those.
Since you will be in there, may as well check the chain.... There might be a AM mod for the cover situation ??? Not sure.

Thanks guys, I cant believe what a pain in the *** this is compared to my older revs, used to just pull the plug and refill. Now you have to take off the mufffler, take off the battery holder, take off the chain case cover etc... Why the heck did they change such a simple prior setup?

Just don't do what I did. I put a new 1.25 track on my brothers sled and after I put it all back together I put the wrong oil in the chain case. (Don't ask how, I just wasn't thinking) Thats when I started throwing crap across the garage because I knew I had to pull it all back apart again. When you do it plenty of times it will become easy for you. The XP chain cases stay really clean too. At least everytime we change the oil we can inspect everything.
