How long, by sled, is it from Rhinelander, WI to the MI border? How are the trails to and from?

Not sure of the trail numbers but go from Rheinlander to three lakes, up to Eagle River, to Conover and then north to Land o Lakes then to Michigan or Conover to Phelps to UP. Trails are good. Some fast wide open trails, RR beds and twisty through the trees. Probably can do it in three hours if you keep a good pace. Grab a Vilas County Map, that will show most of the route.

So if we got up early do you think we can make it from Rhinelander to Lake Gogebic, spend the night there and then head to Copper Harbor the next day? How "BIG" of day is that from Rhinelander to Lake Gogebic? Thanks!!

Should be a good day not to long. A few years back rode from watersmeet to pelican lake and back to watersmeet in the same day no more than a 8 or nine hour day. So your trip you should be able to make no problem.

I can't comment on the Rhinelander to Gogebic in one day but that seems like it's very do-able and some good stops along the way (like Bents Camp for lunch).

I can however comment on the Gogebic to Copper Harbor run as we've done it the last few years. We take our time going up there...hitting the 13 loop from Greenland to Twin Lakes...then on up to Gay & Lac La Belle before finally settling in at the Mariner North for dinner and hotel rooms. Next morning we hit up the trail to High Rock, the Eagles Loop, back on down through Calumet, across the bridge, the Feda Loop and finally back to Gogebic.

Lake Gogebic isnt real far from the border i would say you could get to LG before noon if you left around 8 am in Rhinelander. Your only a county and a half from the border. It's only like a 100 miles to Lake Gogebic. You will want to be riding more.

I'd agree w/Arcticgeorge,,, I've ridden from S. Woodruff up to L. Gogebic and back (routed thru B. Junc/PresqIsle) several times. Just under 200mi RT. Prob approx. 5hrs depending on your pace. Nice Ride. Did a trip once from Bergland to Copper H. with overnight in Houghton. More leisurely pace, plenty to see. Even nicer ride for sure. Plenty of RR grade if you wanted/needed to make time.
