Rockland workaround

want to get to houghton from bergland. how do you get thru the rockland detour? met several lost pilgrims there today........

Tell us more about the detour. What trail is closed?

When you come out on to Victoria Rd continue on after you cross the beige the trail usually goes to the right continue on the road and you will come up on the trail (railroad grade) that goes from Rockland to ontonagon take a right and you will meet back up with the trail and then left. There are detour signs.

Maybe he is talking about the detour at Norwich road.If that is the case when you see the detour sign at the paved road coming from bergland you take a right and go south maybe a mile or 2 not sure you will see the trail on your left.

The area I was talking about is here the yellow line is Victoria Rd. continue on that until you hit trail 137 which goes to Ontonagon take a right to meet back up with trail 13

That detour is a carbide burner.
I would rather ride through the junk if it is possible. Has that section been closed completely this year? Last year we had the option.

I was up there for new years i seen people using both routes that i was tslking about where you cross norwhich rd to stay on trail or travel south on norehich rd. And i also took the victoria rd and used the trail.

Good question. They didn't at all our first trip up in early January. One of the Cat's broke a front track shock on that section.

Having hard time posting pics but the above is a picture from Mi-trale muti use map. Forest road#630=sled trail 101. P= sled trail#13. VC= detour reroute for sleds and atv/orv in summer time. NR=Norwich Rd. The green diamond is where the detour is.
