We just got back from our first ride of the season. Trailered to Krupps and stayed in the RV lot Monday and Tuesday night. Headed up to Lake of the Clouds on 12/17 but only made it to White Pine. The last 10 miles leading to White Pine were horrible. I made the mistake of turning north from trail 13 onto trail 101. That joined up with trail 12. Some of the worst trail conditions that I have ever ridden on trail 12. Stopped at Konteka for lunch then headed back on trail 1 down to Bergland. The first 10 miles on trail 1 out of White Pine were fantastic! Met 3 different groomers on our way back to the trailer in Twin Lakes. Unfortunately, one was broke down just south of Twin Lakes. 125 miles total for the day. 10 miles were excellent; 10 miles were horrible. Groomers hadn’t been out to clean up the weekend mess due to warm temps. But the groomed stretches we rode on the way back were much appreciated! On Wednesday we rode through Rousseau headed toward Sidnaw. We cut it short since we were leaving for home in the afternoon. We took trail 12 to 174. trail 174 was excellent! We planned to do a loop, but decided to double back on 174 because it was so damn nice! Stopped at the Rousseau Bar for lunch and headed back to Krupps to break camp for the ride home. 85 miles for the day. Overall, it was a great early season ride. Had I not screwed up on selecting the route to White Pine, the trails overall would have been quite nice. They definitely need more snow, but riding mid December is bonus time in my book. Thanks to all who make this possible. Our group of 4 old guys loved it!

Jeff, wasn't sure if you had gone or not, glad to hear you did and got some miles on! looks like the BN held up good which I had expected it would, just wasn't sure how much grooming would have been done during the warm up.

So western UP has gotten some snow sense the warm up most areas have been able to get out and groom. Only couple areas close to Wi boarder haven’t gone back out just not enough new snow. UP Thunder Riders (Watersmeet area) has a base and couple inches of fresh snow but not enough to groom with rocks still coming up on the grades.
