RZR or Commander

We have finally decided that getting a side by side is a great idea, so now the question is which one? I know it depends on how you ride and what you are looking for out of the machine. I want something that my wife and I can trail ride comfortably. Yes I want decent performance and a resonable price also but I would say comfort will be high on the list. Please provide feedback from owners from either brand and help me make up my mind, thanks.

If you want high speed trail machine(ricky racer type), look at RZR-S 800 or RZR XP 900.

If you want a reasonable speed trail machine, look at any RZR or Commander.

If you are just going to putz around on the trail, pick what catches your eye and fits your budget best.

The RZR-S and RZR XP have a better suspensions than the RZR 570, RZR 800, and any Commander.

The Commander has BY FAR, the best seats.

You really need to test drive them and go from there. You might not like the ergos of one brand or the other.

Polaris usually releases new models around July 1 and again on New Years. They are making RZR's for the military with a narrowed suspension(60") in the XP chassis(900cc 88hp). I would be willing to bet a consumer version will be coming out real soon.

Arctic Cat Prowler. It as the most storage space out of any of them. The ergo's are not bad, though the RZR & Commanders are sharp looking, Prowlers versatility & functionality is what appealed to me. They are easy in & easy out, room for 3 with the HDX Model. Now if you really want to turn a head or two, the Arctic Cat Wild Cat is it, but for me, cannot justify the cost until I have nothing else to spend $ on or win the lotto:cool:.-Mezz

What are the width restrictions for trails? I am reading 50" to be legal, is that correct or is it county by county? Leaning towards a RZR-S 800 in the orange madness but I agree a test ride is in order to make the final decision.

65" in WI. 50" on Federal forests. (though I dont think this law is enforced much for SxS). The Fed law was written many years ago to keep Jeeps and trucks outta the forests. People are currently working on changing this law. There isnt "alot" of fed forest trails in WI.

wiutv.org for all the info in WI.

They put barriers up so you can't get by, steel poles cemented into the ground w/berms. Seen it. And it may be only on 1 end and then you travel 20 miles and have to go back because you can't escape. LOL
