Yes, when you register the sled they will ask what the price paid was.
You will pay on the price paid if you are honest![]()
if they had their way the gov would tax you
when you junked a sled.
At one time we sold a sled to a relative and he did not have to pay the tax because it was done between relatives. I don't know if that is still true but it was about 5-6 years ago. Worth checking into. Yes we were from WI at that time.
I have never had to worry about that. I have never bought a used sled. I just know that I have received a call from the DNR on a sled I sold asking what price I sold the sled for.Or the price paid if you are not honest, if you catch my drift. Shame shame.
Heres a question: when buying a new sled in Mich the dealer claims he needs to charge sales tax even though I will register in Wisconsin. I looked it up and what he claims is correct. This only applies between Mich/Wis. What are your thoughts?
I did this same thing, just said it was a gift, and they said "Ok", no tax paid. They never verified who it came from either.
