Ok I promised the lady friend I would take her to Detroit to see her best friend. I live by LaCrosse WI. I would have to travel through Chicago to get to detroit and it would be a ten hour drive. I was tryin to justify this trip by headin up to the Mack bridge and up to the U.P. but have no idea what to do when we get up there..... Should I plan to camp?? Should I just forget about the U.P. from detroit and just head there from home someother time?? From detroit to lake gogebic is another ten hours in the car... From home its only 6 hours....
Man I really miss the U.P.......

Go up to the bridge, you could easily find things to do for a few days. There are a few campgrounds right at the bridge, at least one you can see from the camp ground. You could also go to the mackinac island just to visit or to stay on the island which is always a good time. There is a fort on the island and in the city which are interesting if you have never been. Lot of things to do and see for several days.

The trout fishing is unreal right now if you do that. Get a cabin at the RunningBear and go fishing. Day run to copper harbor. Hike Pictured Rock shore line. Go from Shingleton north to Melstrand to Chapple beach is worth the view...
