Seney, Grand Marais, Munising are great but Pine Stump ?

Trails in these areas were all in excellent condition Mon. thru Wed. All trails were groomed with between 8 & 20+ inches of new snow. Seney & Grand Marais were Great as usual, Munising has definitely stepped up from the past few years & was very good, {TASA, Newberry] who grooms 9 to pine stump is good except for the trail 9 north near Pine Stump Junction, there is a logging operation going on for about 10 or more miles. I have been riding these trails for more than 25 years & this is the worst I have ever seen as far as a passable trail. If you choose to punish yourself & your sled, take this route, Take extreme caution, the trail is solid 100000 pound truck tire pounded ice bumps with no shoulder for pain filled miles & miles with no lubrication & no fun riding on it. Its an over heating, hyfax melting, slippery corner death ride that you can't wait to be done with. Seney has a logging operation happening now & did a wonderful job of rerouting their trail system. Just wanted to make people aware of this hazard near Pine Stump before someone is hurt or killed. Ride safe & ride far.

Munising trails are a great place to ride again. We rode them the last several days and they are all smooth......
I'm sure glad they finally got it together with their grooming operation. Your dollar goes a lot further in Munising area, cheaper gas and lodging.

Agreed. We stayed in Wetmore Sunday-Wednesday, only rough trail was 8 for a mile east of Singleton due to swanp, however they did groom it finally on Tuesday night and it was good. Rode between Christmas and Pine Stump for all 3 days, most snow definitely Shingleton to Grand Marais. Did get a sled stuck in a bog so choose your off trail spots wisely. Under the snow not frozen in spots.

Is this part of trail 9 that's bad coming up from the south to get to pine stump junction ?

So if you come down on 9 from the north to get to PSJ it's a okay ? But sounds like a good idea to backtrack north on 9 to avoid the bad part ?

Thanks for the map, looking at my trail map to compare, is that almost vertical trail/road going straight down from Pine Stump H 37 not a trail?

If so, does anyone know if you can ride h-37 ( and is it currently snow covered enough ) to bypass that logging area and get back to the trail system at the next junction ?

Trail 9 is usually a sweet trail and it makes a nice connector loop to ride from say munising, to grand marais, to seney and back to munising without having to go all the way to paradise and around through newberry. Which is a good ride too if you have the time....................
