Sheboygan & Manitowoc Country Trails

Many riders in SE Wisconsin are excited to see these trails finally open this year as they weren't able to open last year. With 11+ inches of snow that fell a few weeks ago, I'd love to know how far out we still are from the trails opening for this season? The information posted on Sheboygan and Manitowoc trail websites previously highlighted the lack of frozen ground for not being able to open. I suspect that is quickly rectifying itself with the polar airmass overhead.

I would really appreciate anyone with information to please reply to this post.

Thanks!

If they are anything like Kewaunee County's trails, they lost most of that 11 inches with last weeks warm up and rain. The trails that were groomed beforehand in Kewaunee Co maintained some of the base, but will need a significant (4-6+ inch) snowfall before opening is considered imo.

Not enough as the fields are bare in spots. Was water in places but don't know if it is frozen. I think it will be awhile, we need a good snow fall without wind.

After watching 'The Movie' I wouldn't go anywhere near Manitowoc County, regardless of the conditions, I would sell my sled first.

We are all waiting for some more snow, water issues are mostly gone since the last snow a couple weeks ago but, landowners and safety are important. Will be watching the storm track this weekend and we all hope it will be good news. All business are asking the same questions about opening but understand.
Can't wait to post good news on this site:)

Manitowoc county picked up 5 inches of heavy, wet, snow last night. I know we could always use more but I'm hoping this is enough to get the trails open this year.

Keep tabs of the web site. Will know soon what will happens. Our area southern Sheboygan only received 3" of snow or less, Plymouth north picked up 6 to 8 and west to Fond du lac.

Zone 1-2 in Sheboygan county are now open, Manitowoc county is open and 3 of the four zones in Fond du lac are open.
I know the Sheboygan clubs were grooming last night.

Check the Calumet county web site, they opened up 3 of four sections yesterday. Alittle more snow south and we will be open too. Groomer as moth balls from not groomer last year, it needs a couple hundred hrs put on it this season yet :)

I just rode a 75 mile loop from Kiel to Howard's Grove to Plymouth to Glenbuela to Elkhart Lake...then back to Kiel. About 50% of the trails were groomed and beautiful. Nice job by the Howards Grove and Sheboygan groomers! The remaining 50%, while not groomed, had lots of snow and was not all that bumpy. image.jpg

Looking forward to another fun ride soon.

I rode in southern Fond Du Lac County last night. There was enough snow to have a good time. Many trails ungroomed and a little bumpy but no bare spots and a lot of fun! I would suggest you hit it tonight as I don't think there is enough snow to last past noon on Saturday with the warm temps and sun.

Check the web pages. They are closing some counties due to warm temps on Sat and Sun. Hopefully we get some of the snow that is going to hit NW wisc.
