Has very little snow forecasted, even in the LES areas! We need a few more inches here. I guess the positive part is it will allow things to freeze up.

How much do you have on the ground? We may have 5" total if lucky. We need 6" to open and I haven't heard if we are opening or not on the 1st. Grooming meeting tomorrow morning.

Mark...I have not measured but a bunch in the woods ...on the 25th we had 8" & a little LES here there everyday. Plenty of snow to groom & open trails in Phelps & tons of snow NW towards Winchester & PI. Not sure what Vilas will do about black powder?.... seems like a waste to not open next week sometime. Even have my boots polished.....I'm sooooooooo ready ..LOL

Yep will probably come down to private landowner agreements that start after the 10th just have to see.
Snowing like crazy right now so taking gson out gravity sleddin.lol He needs to perfect the belly flop missed the sled last time so bit gun shy beutif gdad can do it he can too.lol

I'm trying to relax, but it's not looking much better today. Below is from John's forecast text for today. It looks like the UP will be busy but I'd sure like to be able to ride around here!

Not a lot of new snow (even in the LES belts) in the next 7-10 days, with a chance at some minimal melting this weekend, otherwise cool and fairly quiet in the Northwoods.

Yep ...if you are relaxed then probably not ready to ride. Usually I wait for trails to be ridden in by early birds & lakes to freeze up but we are there now at least a month ahead of every other year. Things I don't know is how well groomed trails will hold up to traffic as we are going into a dry period. I just need to get from Phelps to the UP & long gone to the deeper stuff so need a Vilas opening date & good to go. To me ride them while you got it who knows when next thaw will do us in

Will you trailer up to the UP if trails are good up there and Vilas doesn't open for a while? It looks like I may make a trip up there in December. I need to break my sled in!

Probably not Mark not sure where to park my rig other than Pat's & just need to get over the line 8 miles or so. Vilas Twistys perfect for 2s break-in on & off the hammer. You are welcome to park here but you are probably staying somewhere in UP.

Thanks Pete, but I will stay in the UP somewhere. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't be able to wait and would trailer the 8 miles and unload! The casino in Watersmeet would be a good spot.

Probably blast the lake this week do some off trail stuff around here on private land new riser helps a lot with that. Then keep my fingers crossed that Vilas will open sometime later this week. Already scratched the itch before the thaw but getting itchy again with all this new snow. New MI sticker has been on for awhile so my backdoor off trail to Iron County MI should be good but need to check out for logging as soon as I can get thru Phelps. Everyone I have talked to so far is looking for away off trail to piece it together stay off groomed trails. Straight line would work great if wasn't for all these lakes & homes in the way.lol

Yep that is our motto when conditions are scabby down here "Just have get to the UP & we are long gone"! Every mile north deeper & deeper We are very fortunate to be at the gateway of the UP! Blacktop roads will burndown before trails do in late March so sometimes we are locked in eariler than I would like but I get more than my fair share.
