Shucking Corn

Just tried a new way to do this age old chore...

Instead of shucking the corn before boiling it we threw them straight into the pot, then after about 15 minutes of boiling we took them out, cut off the bottom of the husk/cob and squeezed the top. They slid right out of the husk with no silk and the husk was quick, clean and easy to throw away. On a couple we needed to grab the bottom of the cob and pull it out, but still, a lot easier then standing around shucking corn and picking all the silk off each ear.

I heard about this someplace and had never tried it before, I have to say it worked great and I'm thinking this may be the new method of cooking whenever I plan to boil them.

I'll have to give that a try, never heard of that before. Thanks for the tip. I wonder if that method will work the same if you soak them the same way & cook them whole on the grill? -Mezz

I just heard about doing it this way not to long ago and it works great!! I soak them and cook over an open fire and it works great so I would think it would be the same for you.

I have cooked them on the grill in the husk after soaking them in water, I just wasn't sure about the shucking part, should work, we'll see I'm gonna try it this week-end. Love garden fresh veggies.-Mezz
