on Saturday my wife & I trailered to watersmeet. we rode east & then north to Kenton, Sidnaw & north on 8/15. things started to go bad at about 5 miles north of sidnaw. I became extremely disorienated, dizzy, could hardly hold on to the snowmobile. Had enough sense to turn around & try to get back to Sidnaw. got quite sick on the way back, but I made it. Inside Sidnaw station, two riders from Madison offered to ride back & get the truck/trailer. After talking to Tom, he said he would take the wife back to watersmeet. THANKS to the guys from madison for offering to help. I was still quite sick & couldn't stand up. I thought I had food poisoning. Tom called his wife Sue to tend bar while he took the wife to Watersmeet, and I got a ride to the Lanse hospital in the white truck with flashing lights. Just as the wife was pulling into Sidnaw Station, 4 snowmobilers were coming out and asked if she needed help. They got the sleds in & clamped down. Another THANK YOU. Also extra special THANKS to Sue & Tom. At Lanse hospital it was determined that I had an extreme vertigo (balance)attack. After many tests & several hours I was on my way home as a passenger in the truck. Again THANKS to everyone involved.

I have a lot of vertigo problems. Do you remember hitting any large bumps or recently whacking your head anywhere? Make sure you visit an ENT doctor and get yourself checked out. You may need your crystals re-aligned and there are physical therapists that will show you the correct way.

Glad the snowmobile community came together and took care of you. Good people.

As Blkhwkbob suggested, see a Dr as they'll be able to realign your crystals. My mother-in-law recently had this and went for a few sessions in which she was straightened in no time. She said she couldn't believe someone could look into her eyes and tell what she was feeling! Not even her late husband!! LOL! Can any man do that with a woman? :uncomfortableness: Good luck!

Folks at Sindaw Station have always been top notch. We make sure it is one of our stops.

Get your health figured out for sure. Glad you made the decision to turn back when you did and made a bad situation no worse.

Hey thanks Woodtic. We always had a good relation with Bev and Tom. Glad to hear all is well with them. When my son was in school, and later college, we always took several trips up there. Stayed in their cabins if possible. They had also helped us out several times, and very thankful to them for their friendship!!! They shared several secrets in, and around the area with us that we still enjoy today. Just good people!!! Tom had told us several years back that Sue was relation to them some how. I though he had said she was a niece? But it worked out well for both parties, and we're glad to hear so. Never complained on their gas price, as it was better than not having gas, and a store not open. We went up to ride and enjoy ourselves. Complaining on the price of gas and trail permits, don't amount to much as compared to a 8K/12K snowmobile cost. As without gas and trail permits, there won't be much to ride.

I would say homemade pizzas are their specialty. But they make a few great soups as well. They often have a few sandwiches on the menu as well, but don't think of that part as a full menu. Usually excellent service, unless super packed.

X2 on the gas, small businesses must be able to survive or we cant patronize them when needed.
Secondly, they have no 365 base of customers in the U.P. so upping gas prices etc. when they do have customers assists in sustaining a viable annual business.
The worst I have ever seen prices marked up for general retail items was in Baker, NV last October; the closest small town at the entrance to Great Basin National Park. I walked in to the smallest of country stores after driving 4 hours from Vegas and bought two bags of nuts, a box of donuts, two 32 oz. waters and a pack of gum and threw a $20 on the counter (no credits cards accepted) and needed to dig for the $28ish total. It was fine with me as one hour later I was at the summit over 10k feet and looking at snow, dozens of deer and spectacular views.
Without the store, no doughnuts for hiking that day.

The small private owned stores/fuel stops, are at the mercy of their fuel supplier/jobber on their fuel prices. This is due to that most don't have large enough tanks to be able to receive large amounts of fuel dropped at one time. And not cost effective to put in larger tanks due to regs. The supplier/jobber have to deliver the fuel with a smaller delivery truck, verses have a transport directly drop a load of fuel. But the good side of this is you always have fresh fuel. Less chances of BAD gas!!! Bad side, higher price. I'll pay the price to have the fuel available, plus food, drink, and supplies. And hopefully not needed, but help if needed, due to unfortunate circumstances. A warm up maybe, or perhaps worse, such as health issues!!! Please keep the doors open!!!
