Bringing the family up on Friday through Sunday and staying at AmericInn in Silver City.

Looking for conditions reports for that area as I find reports ranging from poor to fair to excellent. I've looked here, www.msasnow.org/trail-reports/ etc.

Mainly taking 1 up to Porcupine Mountains then 11 to 102 down to Bergland then 1 or 101/12/1 up to White Pine/Silver City.

May venture north and east up 12 depending on conditions this weekend.

Been here many times before and always a great ride but had to cancel about every other year New Year's trip due to lack of snow.

Your input on conditions is greatly appreciated.

Took 102/11 from Berland to Lake of the Clouds today. 102 had a few bumps but not bad at all. 11 was like a highway on up. Didn't go on 1.

I think what he's saying is if you want to make sure you have snow and good rideable conditions that time of the year you need to book your trip somewhere from Mass City to the NE up to Copper Harbor. : )

I just hope we are not heading into another year where the only really good conditions are in the U.P.. Ya, I know it's early.

Watch yourselves on 12 between 1 and Potato Farm Rd. One of the creeks in one of the ravines was open last night and appeared to be impassable. Quite a few sledders were directing people around the hazard.

I know right where you are talking about. That's a bad spot every year, and can be very dangerous!

Ranlam, are you grooming again this year and any updates from up there? Coming up next Sunday. :)

I was happy to see they put a bridge in the ravine where the beaver dam is located. I had a friend sink his sled in early season riding a couple of years ago

we were through there on Friday. Trails 70-30 to the good. there was a group going to fish a ski doo out of river/creek on 12. tried to sneak across instead of taking road and bridge over. too early to be doing that as it looked like they were going to need a vehicle to get it out in knee deep water and slush. lucky was still light out. rode the new 137(last year) from Onto to the Rockpile and a it was real nice.

Ride on Friday from Silver City to Lake of the Clouds on 1 and back- perfect
Ride on Saturday from Silver City down 1, east on 12 to 101 south to Bergland for lunch - perfect. Across 1/8 through Bergland then up 102 to 11. Only bad spot was approx. two miles south of 11 on 102 a big water hole that covered the whole trail wide and approx. 50 feet across. It was about 3 or more feet deep. Many skipped across but heard a few had to be pulled out before we got there. Had the family walk along the edge and I drove both sleds across without issue. Headed back up 1 to Lake of the Clouds. 1 from the Ski hill to Silver City was rough due to all day traffic.

Parking lot at AmericInn Silver City was packed with trucks and trailers. A lot of people at the Ski Hill as well. Didn't see many people on the trails either day however. Maybe 6 sleds at Lake of the Clouds each time we visited Friday and Saturday.
Overall great snow conditions and trails were excellent.

Food - Pub and Grub at AmericInn Friday night - good fish and pasta
Saturday lunch at JW's BBQ in Bergland - excellent, Saturday night at Konteka for New Years - limited menu but good
