ski alignment question? Help

I'm replacing a trailing arm on a 2001 polaris edge for a friend of mine and I'm wondering what the proper ski alignment would be. I hear mixed information regarding toe-in and toe-out 1/8 - 1/4 inch measured 6 inches from the front spindle. Does anybody really know? Or is it best to just measure it straight dead certer from ski tip to ski tail? Help...I don't want my buddy to end up in the brush because I set it up wrong.

Thanks guys

I set them to 1/4" tow out, but I run a bungee cord from the ski tips to take all the play out in the towed in position. Set it to 1/4 out and you should be fine

you want a slight toe out I cant recall what the owner manuals say but 1/4 to 1/2 inch as I recall. I always measured at the front and rear of skis where they maintain the same width.

I just dialed in my ZRT600 this past week like this……

Secured the bars to be straight ahead.

Trued the skis, with the track via 8ft straight edge, to zero toe.

Then tweaked the toe out to 1/16" from the front & rear runner bolts.

Added Ski Shims as per Bergstrom's instructions.

Rode about 120 miles this weekend. It has Never Tracked Better! I'm going to do the ZR500, the same way, tonight.

Cheers.

X2 what snowfish said. The only thing I would ad is to use ratchet strap on each handle bar end, take a measurement from each bar end to a know poin on the back of the sled like say the back corner of the tunel, make sure each side has the same measurement, then continue on with the rest of snowfishes instructions.
By doing it this way you will ensure that not only will you have the right tow in/out but your handle bars will be straight with the world too.
