I ride an '04 Doo with 600SDI engine. Last weekend, I bought a new Dayco belt and installed it before my ride. I adjusted the secondary cam back to position 1 for proper belt height. Once on the trail, I noticed the sled seemed to be much louder than normal but I continued, making sure to break it in properly (under 50mph for the first 50 miles varying speed). The noise wasn't a squeel, but more of a howl. After my 200 mile day, the noise seemed louder than at the start. It was loudest between 25-40mph, particularly when slowing down from a long straight stretch or speeding up from a stop. I'm almost sure it was coming from the belt, but after the ride, I put the original belt back on and the noise was still there. I switched between my sled and my wifes '05 600SDI just to make sure I wasn't imagining it but hers definately didn't have the same howl. Checked all my skid bearings and they seem fine. I'm not sure the best way to check the drive bearings other than visual inspection.
Any ideas?
