Hello,
I have 06 600 ho sdi, 8500 mi. Have not had any problems with it.My question is, do any of you take your sleds to the dealer and have them hook their computer to it? I had one dealer tell me it should be done yearly,[even if no codes are blinking]and another said only if it's blinking codes.
What do you think,or do?
Thanks

All I would do is check the compression. Some bearings might need to be changed. You could put new piston and rings with those miles but if it runs good would not worry about it too much.

I would assume that these things are like cars, if no light is blinking or no codes are happening hooking to a computer is only going to make dealers wallet fatter. If a deal is stuck to summerise or something of value that includes the computer check (without additional cost) then I would do it otherwise wait till you have a problem. And as stated above I would check the compression with that many miles. Maybe even take your exhaust manifold off and see what your pistons look like.

I have a 07 and it has only been to the dealer once to have a 10 hour checkup done to it. Other than that, its all been done in the garage or a friends house. Just checked compression this winter it was 135 on both sides with 6000 miles on it. I have been very happy with the sled and motor! Our dealer wants $90/hour to work on them!

Absolutly, beyond the shodow of a doubt, have it compression tessted. IT is MUCH cheaper to rebuild a motor before it blows up than after. A compression test will tell ya alot about the condition of your motor and it's really easy to do.

compression is good. I check it every year.I was just curious if there were any computer updates that may need to be installed? I had to have exhaust temp.changed 3 years ago,but it had blinking light.
