Ski Doo tunnel protectors?

Can anyone inform me on what tunnel protectors for ski doo's are? I'm not sure if I need them. We only ride trails. We don't ride off trail and only ditch it when we have to. So I guess my question is are they something I need or are they mainly for off trail sleds? Thanks for any help.

Tunnel protectors go on the underside of the tunnel where the heat exchanger is the reason for them is to protect the tunnel if you stud your track. So if you are going to stud the track you need them if your not you don't riding style doesn't matter.
