My buddys son is looking for a newer skidoo rev with a 600 motor. My question is in 08 or 09 they came out with the etec- is there alot of differnce between a 06 an d the newer sleds? I beleive before 06 they had a prblem with the rings. He would like to buy something from 06 to current with not alot of miles. Not sure what the price range might be for a used model with low miles. Thanks for any info.

I have an 08 with the SDI. I put on 2500 miles with it and had no problems. It is a proven motor so if you would buy an 08 you should have no engine problems.

The chassis changed in 08 to the XP. The 600sdi or 500ss(carbed 600) are both good motors. You'll probably get a better deal on pre 08 stuff, but would probably like the xp chassis better.

You will have a hard time finding one with low miles. These sleds are real easy to put a lot of miles on. They handle very good. You can easily put on at least 300 miles a day and be able to doo it again the next day with out being sore!!

The ring issue was mainly with 2003 and 2004 models. I would venture to say that most of those engines have probably already had them replaced. Otherwise, they are great engines. I have had 2 600 SDI's (2005 and 2008) and put almost 9,000 miles on them (total) with no engine problems. Of course, you will probably get 10 people on here who will tell you they are junk, blow up, whatever... But out of the tens of thousands of those engines out there, that's a small percentage.

Of course, as with any two stroke, make sure the carbs are clean the the carb boots are not torn or de-laminated.

We have 4 2005 600SDI Renegades in the family, all have between 3200-4500 miles on them and have not had any problems as of yet.

1 is getting a new top end this week due to low compression (105 psi both sides, sled has 3400 miles. Other than that they have been great.

2003 was the model year for the ring issue, I have a buddy that had 2 2003's and had issues with both. I have a 2004 and 2005 600HO's with neither having any issues, 5000 miles on the 04 and 6600 on the 05. He will LOVE the rev platform

Are you still looking? We have a 07' MXZ-X 600 SDI with approx. 2000 miles, an 08 TNT with approx. 2200 miles and an 09' MXZ 600 ETEC with approx. 1400 miles. All are in excellent shape.
