I have a 2008 800r that I usually get 15mpg. My dad has a yamaha venture 4 stroke that we will get the same mpg if i am following him.

I rode with a 800R last week and he used more gas than my Etek. I beat him by 4mpg with my ETEK. He did have a Clutch Kit and some Carb changes and that may have changed his Mileage.

Buddy has bone stock 2008 MXZXPX 800r & sucks gas & oil 8-10 mpg best he can get & 75 miles to quart of oil. Some 800rs had DPM solenoids get stuck & run in very rich condition. No real fix for that. So you will hear some guys saying 800r get 12-15mpg or it is a total pig & gets 8-10 mpg & uses oil big time. Buy 600etek good gas & oil miser or wait for 800etek in2011. 800r is old tech bad resale with 800etek coming very soon. Do you really want carbs on your new doo sled? Who knows 800etek might be early release this month that close & price will bottom on 800r. 800r not worth more money than 600 etek at this point of season.

I have a 08 mxz renegade with the 800r and had to have my oil pump adjusted after 300 miles, since then oil and gas consumption have been great. Run along side a 600sdi ski doo and use very little extra fuel over what he uses.

Plus I get the power of an 800.

Have 600 miles now on a 2010 600 Etec and it is using about one quart of oil per 200 miles and have seen 20 mpg at 60 mph with a temperature of 10 above. This is a Backcountry Renegade with a 1.75" track and is completely stock. I can go 200 miles or play all day off trail and not worry about filling up, love it!

I have an 08 800r with 2-3 tanks of fuel through and I'm figuring 11mpg or so. This is with southern wi field riding so I tend to believe one would be a little more throttle happy on the straight away's and hill crest jumping. I'm not to pleased at this point as I was hoping to get about the same as my wife's 02 600 (13ish). I'll probably be bringing back to the dealer to check the carb and oil adjustments to make sure they're where they need to be.

Mileage

I have an 04 800HO. 10-11 MPG is average. I put in 1qt of oil per tank of gas. I figure is it running about 50:1 mix. I rode a FIII for years that got about the same mileage but used far less oil. My buddy rides an Etek. Almost 20Mpg and very good on oil. The 800 smokes him on the lakes though!

I agree with whitedust, better off with a 600 etech for resale alone. I just did massive sled shopping and found lots of leftover 09 800s but not a single etech. Just shows what the consumer demands. If its true about the 800 etech the 800rs will drop in value big time. However 800r is still a good dependable engine. Personaly I would definetly buy the 600 etech.
