Slush On Trailer

I got an enclosed trailer a couple years ago due to slush on trailer and even upgraded to a 4 place this year but now I do not like the way it builds up on the front of the new trailer. I have regular mud flaps on my truck but they do not work well enough.

Maybe I am just being a little picky but have any of you tried the full size flaps that you see some people with RV's using?

Larry, Check out Rock Solid Tow Guards. They work very well to keep stuff off of your trailer. Easy to install and after having one it has become a fixture on my truck almost year round for towing sleds, ATV's, boat etc.

It's not uncommon to see cut down big rig flaps around here. There are a lot of lifted trucks around the area I live in (Appleton, WI) and they all seem to like them because you can basically make them any size you want and they tend to be a little bit stiffer.

Put on a Tow Tector on your reciever hitch. The one with fine black brushes that hang towards the ground and it will cover the whole width of vehicle. We have one on our suburban and never have snow or rock chips on our 4 place trailer. Cost around $250. Well worth the money.

Splash Stop

I use a "Splash Stop" that I had purchased from a local "Toys For Trucks" shop, had it for 10 years and it works well. Keeps the major slush off and with the "brush-style" flap, it doesn't build up with slush like a regular "flap"

It's adjustable for the width of the tow vehicle ans just slips over your receiver draw bar.

Found a link showing it-not the best picture:

These things also help to keep your tow vehicle from getting stone chips-you know the stones that would first hit your trailer and then bounce forward into the tow vehicle.

Is anyone using the model from Dyers? If so, how do you like it? Thinking of getting one as the front of my new enclosed trailer is already showing knicks and rock dings! Thanks for any information!

See my post above- post #7. I've had mine for quite some time and it works well for me.

I bought rock tamers from cabelas make sure they r a solid flap not the brush ones. I was up in UP last week it snowed every day and I had very little slush on trailer. Never had my locks freeze up which was a first. The brush ones work good in summer 4 boat but but I didn't have good luck in snow & slush. I sold them 4 half of what I paid 4 them.

I'm not to concerned with snow and slush as I can't see a rock embedded within it doing much harm. I too just got back from the UP, Mass City, and have a few dings in the V of the trailer that were not there when we left. It had to be from the sand mixture that's used in that region. I know I did here a "ting ting" a couple of time and was hoping it was not a ding in the trailer but, sure enough it was. I know rocks can come up off the road in any conditions but I woud say it has to increase when the sand mixture is applied to the roads. Just my .02 and the cost of owning toys.....

Tow Tector Is Great!

I also have a Tow Tector on my truck, use it year round and it works great to protect whatever you are towing.
