Snow pics from downtown Chicago

I took a walk around Chicago this morning, I made it to the Lake Shore Drive/Fullerton exit ramps and was shocked to see so many cars still standed in the North Bound lanes. I met a gentleman who said he was stranded there in his truck since yesterday afternoon...I know on the news I heard of many that were stranded 12 hours.

Lots of cars burried throughout the city, pretty eerie walking in the middle of these normally chaotic streets seeing abandon cars everywhere.

You can walk away to shelter within blocks it's not like your in the middle of nowhere. I was down there plowing and it is eerie to say the least.

Unreal!!! Looks like a ghost town! Driven down LSD plenty of time and can't imagine it at a standstill!

Awesome!

Was watching the local news (out of Green Bay),..
and they were showing people being rescued from there
vehicles by sleds,.... then brought to buses to be taken to shelter.
Sleds flying down Lake Park Drive.
That looked Awesome!
Hope everyone is allright.

wow amassing pictures...........I spend usually 4-6 weeks a year in that area for work and like you said it would be weird to be out there with very few people and no cabies honking their horns.

Are you from this area?

thanks for the pictures

Yes we live in this area; Glad you guys like the pics!

It was definitly worth the walk to get over there.......Although I truly feel for those people who were/are stuck there. There were people on CTA buses for hours, and although they probably "could" have walked to shelter the winds and blowing snow were just to intense to travel by foot. There is nothing to shelter you from the NE winds blowing the snow off the frozen lake onto lakeshore drive!

Definitly a memorable moment for us all!
