Snow storm lightning?

Hey John, just a quick question. I was driving home about 8 or 9 o'clock one night last week, and the snow was really coming down. It seemed that once or twice when I was driving I saw a lightning flash. I had never heard of this, and was just wondering if it lightnings during snow storms sometimes? Thanks, Scott.

I don't mean to answer for John, but I have seen this happen as well. I believe it is referred to as thunder snow, which typically results in a heavy snowfall rate. Please correct me if I'm wrong John.

yamapaul is right. It is called thunder snow. Just as it typically rains very heavily when there is a thunderstorm going on, it also snows very heavily.
