Snowies Between X-mas and New Years???

One option for a western trip over the Holidays is the Snowies. I have never gone to the Snowies over the Holidays though, only to Togwotee. I'm not concerned about the snow, as the Snotel sites and other forums will provide me with that information. But, what about the number of riders? Any information regarding the traffic, parking, etc. would be appreciated!

I prefer the week before christmas. Less money, less crowded, less Huxtables on vacation. Wanabe and poser crowd frequent that time more than any other time out there. Not for me. That is My view of Tog at that time. If that's all you can get vacation for than do it! Tog is still better than no Tog.

after all we are flat landers to the locals anyways and they will still take your coin if you can ride or not.

Carter Sez.....

You forget who you ride with.... doesn't matter the amount of people here then. We still ride the fluff. Its actually a good time as the posers can't handle 3-4 ft deep powder to the dirt. So ......... Kris, can you go back on Snowest Web to Dec. or Jan. last season and see the chatter on that area. I remember stuff about parking and thefts, just a heads up...

Well, just like everywhere else, the Snowies are at their busiest that week. Yes there will be tons of people, yes you will have a hard time booking a room, if not done way in advance, and yes you will have a hard time parking on the mountain if not there at the but-crack of dawn. You can still find plenty of untouched powder that week though, if you look hard enough and far enough away from the trail. One thing about the Snowies, is there are far more parking lot posers than actual hard core sledders, and most of them turn around as soon as they can't see the trail anymore, leaving plenty of fresh stuff to play in.

Yea, I remember all the crap at Green Rock last year. We never had any troubles, but many people had their stuff messed with. I talked to Schuyler and Paula at Hay Days today about trips this year. I know there is plenty of room at Tog even at X-mas. Snoluvr is right though, there are a lot of posers at the Snowies that turn around when they cannot see the trail. I'm gonna give you a call Carter.
